SOLUTION
—Nessy Hamila, Founder of Dr. Gala
A scientist by trade, Nessy Hamila started selling on Amazon with little e-commerce experience — but that didn’t stop her brand from making a splash online.
Not just a seller and business owner, Hamila is also a product designer in the health and wellness niche. It was natural that she’d take her burgeoning sales and increasing product line to the the world’s biggest marketplace: Amazon.
When the pandemic began, just as Dr. Gala was taking off, online sales skyrocketed. The sales explosion was a massive boost, but with it came the need to meet increasing demand during a lockdown that severely strained the supply chain.
Production lagged, transportation was at a near standstill, and some sellers resorted to underhanded tactics, including hoarding, price gouging, and review manipulation. This left newer, smaller brands like Dr. Gala vulnerable to delayed shipments, damaged goods, costly returns, and lost rankings.
With the pandemic limiting production resources and slowing all processes (while increasing demand), Hamila’s Chinese suppliers gave priority to brands ordering 30,000+ units. Since Dr. Gala was still testing products, Hamila simply couldn’t order in such quantity.
After one exceptionally successful product test and launch, Hamila desperately needed to restock. But with no manufacturer willing to refill her bestseller, she soon experienced every Amazon seller’s worst nightmare: she went out of stock.
Amazon’s stockout penalties were a massive blow to Dr. Gala’s store’s rankings, stifling the store’s momentum and wasting the funds she’d already invested in securing a top ranking.

When Hamila recovered from the stockout setback, she knew she’d need to find ways for Dr. Gala to increase its purchasing power so that manufacturers paid attention to her orders and filled them quickly.
But how does a growing business compete with established merchants placing high-value orders? How do smaller, newer sellers and brands get their inventory needs met when they can’t even get their calls returned by overseas manufacturers?
Once Hamila realized she could get the attention of manufacturers by paying quickly in local currency, she investigated cross-border payment providers. But most of these companies had complex registration and application processes, charged exorbitant fees, and were slow to approve for international purchasing. Not so when Hamila found SellersFi and the International Wallet global payments solution.
Understanding that Hamila was in a hurry to return to selling on Amazon and to make up the time she lost during the stockout, the SellersFi’s customer success team doubled down on getting Dr. Gala set up quickly and easily. “I needed them and they never failed me. It was so easy, said Hamila.
